At the May 2022 Victoria ISD School Board meeting, trustees appointed Dionne Hughes as the new Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) and  Texas Science Technology Engineering and Math (T-STEM) Program Administrator for the 2022-2023 school year. 

Hughes has over 28 years of educational experience with 20 of those being at VISD. Most recently Hughes served as the Principal of O’Connor Ace Elementary. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston-Victoria.

As the P-TECH Administrator, Hughes's primary duties will include planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and progress monitoring the Career and College Readiness School models, P-TECH and T-STEM school-within-a-schools at Victoria East and Victoria West High Schools. She will serve both VEHS and VWHS.

“It is an honor to be able to serve as the P-TECH/T-STEM Program Administrator,” said Dionne Hughes. “ I look forward to working with the school and business/industry community to foster a mutually beneficial partnership that will ensure students have the support necessary to participate in college and work experiences that will lead to their future successes. I am excited to interact with our VISD scholars and staff as they navigate through these pathways toward their “&”. It is my intention to work in unison with dedicated VISD teachers and staff to develop and grow a program that is rigorous and fosters a curious, creative and innovative mind while providing a rich and balanced high school experience for our students. What an exciting opportunity for our students - and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

About P-TECH

The P-TECH program at Victoria ISD is a pathway for students to get ahead in their chosen career fields. The P-TECH pathways offered are Healthcare at VEHS and Computer Science and Education & Training at VWHS.  T-STEM, a pathway for students interested in Engineering is available at VEHS. 

Both P-TECH and T-STEM are no-cost pathways to parents or students that will lead to dual credit, work-based learning,  and post-secondary credentials.
