Victoria ISD is aware of multiple social media threats for many of our secondary campuses. Because the safety of our students is our utmost priority, we immediately begin an investigation with campus school resource officers and local law enforcement as they are received.

If a threat is perceived to have any credibility, the campus and district will respond accordingly. Likewise, if no evidence exists that the threats are credible, we will update the school community.

We ask for your continued partnership, as we remain committed to providing every student with a safe learning experience. Please speak with your children about the importance of not making threatening or concerning statements in the school environment on social media.

If a student hears of a rumored threat, remind them to share the information with a trusted adult and not spread it among peers. Regardless of a student’s intent, Victoria ISD will investigate all threats thoroughly.

VISD will fully cooperate with the Victoria Police Department to identify students responsible for creating harmful accounts and threatening posts/comments.

Students determined to be responsible for cyberbullying and other forms of online harassment and/or posting threats to social media will face the consequences in accordance with the student code of conduct and the law. This includes the possibility of punishment of up to 180 days in jail, a fine of up to $2,000, and restitution costs.

As always, we encourage you to remind your child to report any suspicious activity or threats to school administrators or campus officers.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
