Two Victoria ISD students have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Isaac Lu, Victoria East High School senior, and Ashton Rainey, Victoria West High School senior, both received a Letter of Commendation from their school principals and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their exceptional academic promise. Lu and Rainey are two of approximately 34,000 students across the nation to receive this honor.
Commended Students were recognized for placing among the top 50,000 students who entered the National Merit Scholarship Corporation’s (NMSC) 2022 competition. Lu and Rainey both took the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) to be entered in the competition.
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
