Community volunteers encouraged to participate in District-level advisory committee

Victoria ISD is inviting parents, community members and local business representatives to become involved in the District Education Committee (DEC), a District-level advisory committee that provides input on educational planning and priorities.

The District Education Committee will hold its first meeting of the 2026–27 school year on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the CTE Center Mall area.

In accordance with Victoria ISD Board Policy BQA (Local), the District Education Committee advises the Board of Trustees or its designee in establishing and reviewing the District’s educational goals, objectives and major District-wide classroom instructional programs. The committee serves exclusively in an advisory role.

Community participation is an important part of the District-level planning process, providing an opportunity for individuals representing different perspectives and areas of the Victoria community to contribute to conversations about the educational programs and priorities of Victoria ISD.

VISD is currently soliciting community volunteers interested in participating in the District Education Committee. Parents, community residents and business representatives who are interested in becoming involved are encouraged to attend the Sept. 3 meeting and learn more about the committee and opportunities to participate.
