VWHS MITIGATE TRAFFIC

On Monday, May 8, 2023, Victoria West High School will be implementing new traffic patterns for parents/guardians, student drivers, and bus transportation on campus to alleviate traffic congestion during drop-off times for the remainder of the school year. These changes are the result of a comprehensive study and analysis of traffic flow on our campus, and we believe they will improve safety, efficiency, and convenience for all our stakeholders.

Following the first full week of traffic changes, parents/guardians will be sent a Thoughtexchange link to participate in to gather feedback as we continue to improve the traffic congestion during school drop-off. The Thoughtexchange will also be available at www.visd.ned/westtraffic

Starting from Monday, May 8, 2023, Victoria West High School will implement the following changes in traffic:

New Drop-off Zones

Car Riders and Student Drivers

The student drop-off zone for car riders and parking for student drivers will be at the cafeteria entrance. Student drivers and car riders will enter Tropical Drive drive and travel past Cade MS and loop around Tropical Drive to enter the last parking lot entrance on the right.

Bus Riders

School buses will enter Tropical Dr and stay in the left lane to turn into the Cade/VWHS shared parking lot/bus loop. A traffic guard will be present to assist with traffic flow as needed.

We will implement one-way traffic on the main road leading to the school to improve traffic flow and avoid bottlenecks. We understand that these changes may take some time to adjust to, but we believe they are necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and visitors. We also appreciate your cooperation and support as we implement these changes.

We encourage all parents and visitors to review our new traffic patterns and to follow the new procedures to help us maintain a safe and efficient campus.
