Victoria West High School First Robotic Team 9121 Attends First Two Competitions

On March 10-11, and March 24, the Victoria West High School FIRST Robotic Team 9121 competed in their first competition in Belton and their second competition in Houston.

The team, known as Wild West and consisting of students in grades 9 to 12, was only started in January. The Wild West has been working tirelessly for the past few months to prepare for their competitions. The team has demonstrated exceptional teamwork, creativity, and innovation in designing and building their robot. The team members have spent countless hours after school and on weekends refining their robot's performance and programming,” said Jennifer Lucia, Victoria West teacher and Wild West co-sponsor.

The FRC competition is designed to challenge students to design, build, and program robots that can perform various tasks. The competition aims to promote STEM education and encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The Wild West found success at their recent competition in Houston, winning three awards at the FIRST Robotics District Event. The West robotics team left Houston with the Houston District Winner Award, the Rookie All-Star Award, and the Rookie Highest Seed Award. The competition brought together teams from across Texas to compete for a chance to advance to the state competition.

"We are extremely proud of our First Robotic Team 9121," said Heather Montgomery, Victoria West teacher and Wild West co-sponsor. "These students have shown dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence in everything they do.”
