VISD Lead Teacher with a student in a classroom

Victoria ISD is now hiring exceptional educators to serve as Lead Teachers in Reading Language Arts and Math for the upcoming 2025โ€“26 school year. This opportunity is open to both current VISD teachers and out-of-district applicants who are ready to take on an impactful leadership role while remaining in the classroom.

Lead Teacher positions are available at the following VISD campuses:

  • Chandler Elementary School

  • Crain Elementary School

  • Dudley Elementary School

  • Hopkins Elementary School

  • Shields Elementary School

  • Patti Welder Middle School

  • STEM Middle School

VISD Lead Teachers are experienced, high-performing educators who help guide instructional practices, support fellow teachers, and lead academic growth efforts on their campusesโ€”all while continuing to teach in their own classrooms. These educators serve as campus instructional leaders, modeling best practices, fostering collaboration, and driving student success in grades 3โ€“8.

To recognize their commitment and leadership, VISD Lead Teachers are eligible to receive up to $10,000 in additional compensation, including:

  • A $7,500 stipend for meeting the following qualifications:

    • At least 65% student growth on STAAR from the prior year

    • A T-TESS score of 3.0 or higher

    • Strong attendance record (no more than 5 state and 5 local days used annually)

    • Demonstrated ability to serve as a Lead Teacher

  • An additional $2,500 bonus for earning at least 65% student growth in the 2025โ€“2026 school year

โ€œLead Teachers play a key role in elevating instructional quality across campuses while continuing to do what they love most - teaching,โ€ said Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services Tammy Sestak. โ€œThis is a great opportunity to grow as a leader and directly impact student achievement.โ€

In addition, VISD staff members who refer a selected out-of-district Lead Teacher candidate will receive a $1,000 referral bonus on their December 2025 paycheck. Referred applicants must list the referring employeeโ€™s name on their application and work the full fall semester to qualify.

Each campus will select one Lead Teacher per grade level (6thโ€“8th for middle school, 3rdโ€“5th for elementary) per content area (Reading and Math). These positions offer a meaningful career growth path while enhancing instructional capacity districtwide.
