I am the Victoria West High School Librarian.  This is my 8th year at West and it has been amazing!  I love my job and all the students.  Teaching has been a very special experience for me.  I taught at Hopkins Academy where I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.  I was also the Reading and Writing Facilitator there.  I moved over to VISD Central Office where I was the ELAR Facilitator for Kinder through 12th grade.  What a fantastic 4 years that was!  Working with teachers was awesome but I really missed working with kids so I moved over to Torres Elementary as their Librarian for 3 years then made the move to West.

Books have always been a big part of my life.  Now I get to read books by so many authors and share titles with students and have wonderful conversations about the characters of these books.  Technology has also become a huge part of the library.  We have computers for student use, as well as students reading and working on their own devices.  Our library is a haven for many students who want to work alone, visit with friends, or just sit and relax in a peaceful setting.

Love, Simon

Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing. Directed by Greg Berlanti (Dawson’s Creek, Brothers & Sisters), written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger (This is Us), and based on Becky Albertalli’s acclaimed novel, LOVE, SIMON is a funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story about the thrilling ride of finding yourself and falling in love.
